NC Wildlife Action Plan & Web-based Spatial Modeling Tools Workshops To Be Held Spring 2017

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission will host several one-day workshops to introduce the 2015 NC Wildlife Action Plan and introduce two new web- based spatial modeling tools. A “Threats Assessment” tool and “Conservation Op- portunity Area” tool were developed to support the priority conservation actions described in the Plan. Register by visiting http://www.ncwildlife.org/plan.

The free workshops will include presentations by other partners on programs that implement the Wildlife Action Plan, including:

  • information on the NC Wildlife Resources Commission’s Green Growth Toolbox, a technical assistance and GIS planning tool,
  • information on the Wildlife Conservation Lands Program, a reduced assessment program that provides property tax relief to private landowners for qualified lands,
  • an overview of the NC Forest Service’s Forest Action Plan and regional forest management and conservation topics,
  • an update on the NC Division of Water Resources, Basin Planning Unit’s river basin plan revisions and watershed management and conservation priorities,
  • an overview of the NC Watershed Stewardship Network which serves to connect anyone working on watershed efforts with education, planning, and management resources,
  • an update on the NC Division of Mitigation Service’s Watershed Functional Prioritization Tool used to identify priority areas to implement restoration projects.

Workshop registration is free and we encourage wide participation by partners and stakeholders.
