South Atlantic LCC

Setting a course for a sustainable landscape

Mallory Martin will be the new South Atlantic LCC Coordinator

On behalf of our chair of the South Atlantic Landscape Conservation Cooperative, I am pleased to announce that Mallory Martin has accepted the position of South Atlantic LCC Coordinator, effective Nov. 15, 2015. Mallory is retiring from the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission as the agency’s Chief Deputy Director on Nov. 1, 2015.

Mallory began his career in conservation as an entry-level fish culturist at Armstrong State Fish Hatchery in Marion, N.C., in 1984. In the ensuing years, Mallory served in multiple capacities, rising through the ranks of the agency to become the Chief Deputy Director in 2008. He represented North Carolina in the formation of the South Atlantic LCC and became the Cooperative’s first steering committee chair in 2011. He served on the scoping committee to establish the LCC Council, and in 2013, he was appointed as a charter member of the LCC Council, representing the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.

Mallory holds degrees in biology and fisheries and wildlife sciences from N.C. State University and Virginia Tech. Mallory’s varied experiences in natural resource conservation will serve the South Atlantic LCC mission well.

“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to advance conservation in the Southeast,” Mallory said. “This is my home region and I care deeply about the landscape, wildlife and habitats that we will leave to our children. The South Atlantic LCC is poised to make significant and lasting contributions to our conservation legacy and I am proud to have the opportunity to participate in this important work.”
